The pork was very good but what made the dish for me were the chips which were the best I have tasted, crunchy on the outside but perfectly cooked in the middle. For desserts my wife had the wild strawberry with earl grey ice cream whilst I chose the the coffee and cardamon sponge both of which were excellent.
The service was pretty good though the restaurant had only started the soft launch a couple of days earlier.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food but it was expensive for what it was even with the discount we got for the soft launch. Both my partner Joy and I have enjoyed Kitty fisher's cosiness, comfort and delicious food regularly at the Mayfair restaurant for the last couple of years Kitty's has an old world charm where, over lunch or dinner, time seems to evaporate.
The one ingredient that you can never plan for with a new restaurant is 'ambience'. That mystical factor that in many ways can make or break a new establishment. Great food and service sometimes feels unsatisfactory if the place simply doesn't feel right. The owners of Kitty Fisher's were smart enough not to rush into their second dining adventure. They waited patiently and finally they are about to open their doors to the public with Kitty's 'courtesan cousin', "Cora Pearl".
From Victorian Commoner To Royal French Courtesan: The Luxurious Life Of Cora Pearl
When Joy and I walked through the entrance for a soft launch the venue immediately felt right. Patinated wooden floors, mahogany round and square tabletops with Victorian black wrought iron bases, hints of gilt in lighting fixtures, smoked mirrors and grey green and lilac grey paintwork make for a comfortable and relaxing interior. Full-length double aspect windows at the front and back of the upstairs dining area gives extra light and the illusion of more space.
Downstairs is the open-planned kitchen and bar. The style of food is a further showcase for the talented chef George Barson who also oversees Kitty Fisher. Joy started with the house version of Caesar salad served with delicately cooked quail breast and thighs. Looked fabulous and conversation with Joy suddenly vanished.

A fish stew with a bisque base and rouille, perfectly cooked brill and roasted courgette followed, all of which were delicious. Cora Pearl opens to the public on July 10th and I envision tables filling up fast. A must edition to London and Covent Garden dining. Own or manage this property? By now she was 37 years old and had started an affair with Alexandre Duval - an obsessive suitor 10 years her junior who spent his entire fortune on Cora. When she ultimately dismissed him he went to her home intending to kill her.
